The do is an example of a Nuinobe-do, made by joining broad strips of iron plates into tiered layers.Smoked leather is employed to create a mottled pattern while sparsely joining the plates, which are joined closer together toward the bottom. This style was adopted by Naotaka, 2nd head of Ii family and subsequent heirs.
