This document is a duplicate of the written oath submitted to the shogun by Naosuke, thirteenth head of Ii family when the latter assumed office of Tairo of Tokugawa shogunate. It is written in Naosuke’s own hand. The first half of the document deals with agreements pertaining to the office, the latter half with Buddhist and Shinto pledges.
