This set of seven lid rests was made by Ii Naosuke. They are products of his efforts to follow the example of potter Raku Chōjirō in fashioning tea utensils in the taste of Sen no Rikyū. Naosuke began making Raku-style works from a young age, and he continued his interest in pottery after moving to the domain residence in Edo as heir to Hikone domain.
