The kariginu is an outer wear worn by male characters. This example is a type of kariginu known as okina kariginu, worn exclusively for Okina, a piece performed on auspicious occasions. The garment is fittingly decorated with motifs symbolizing luck and success, such as the character for longevity “寿,” the phoenix, bamboo, paulownia, and chrysanthemums.
