This mayutsukuri-bako makeup set was part of the trousseau brought by Yoshiko, daughter of Prince Arisugawa Takahito of Kyoto, when she married fourteenth daimyo Ii Naonori. The set is decorated with a diamond-shaped floral motif, scrolling patterns, chrysanthemum crests, and the triple-chrysanthemum (mitsu-yoko-giku) crest of the Arisugawa-no-miya family. It consists of eyebrow brushes, combs, round mirrors, tweezers, powder, and other makeup supplies.
